It's been a while since I last designed a mech and I missed it, so I came up with this concept of a large mobile infantry unit for a futuristic tech universe, commanded by a pilot inside a heavily protected cockpit. The key frame scenes illustrate the mech inside a storage warehouse in preparation for going out into the field. Following the key frame images I've included some charts with callouts where I expanded more on my thinking about how the design would function and operate.
The Flex Surg-Limb is an AI driven surgery robot with multi-axial movement arms and optical sensors on its surgical hands. All surgical tools on the hands can be interchanged and replaced. This robot can be used to do automated surgeries on space stations or over populated hospitals.
I designed this AI driven robot that has the capability to perform complex surgeries on humans without any assistance. Using sonar, ultrasonic and infrared sensors, the robot is able to perfectly navigate in any cluttered environment with ease. Webcams and motion cams connected to main processors inside the head allow for very fast thinking and reacting on the robots part. Arms and fingers can rotate from various pivots to allow for maximum dexterity, I included some graphs to explain how everything works together.
This is my re-design for another antagonist in the Mega Man TV series: Gutsman. I chose to go with more creative freedom for this design and went with a more military look and added some warpaint that the character could have added on himself. On his body armor there are small slits cut out to allow him to insert reactive armor as he wishes to protect him from projectiles. For his firing ability, around his head are eight barrels for cannon fire. Gutsman shoots his fingers into the ground to stabilize recoil and begins to fire at his enemies.
I had the opportunity to do some designs for the Michelob Ultra Super Bowl commercial. They were very fast turn around but it was a fun project! Our goal was to achieve a look that was more humanoid, futuristic and agile. A few parts such as the torso and thighs of this robot were used on the Golfer Robot as well. Here are some of the images I contributed.
Last year I had the opportunity to do some Motorballer designs and frames working with MobScene and FDM Studio for the DVD extras of the Alita: Battle Angel movie. I was given some very rough black and white key frames to replicate while coming up with different Motorballer designs for larger team shots. I will be able to share the frames I did in the future but in the meantime I've been given permission to post the designs.
Airdropped into the battle field, the BR-01 Stealth Infiltration Unit is equipped with an EMP Jammer to dislodge enemy technology, while its high powered weapon system is used to neutralize enemy units by its advanced thinking computer brain.
In a future where machines are starting to overpower humans, a group of conspiring government scientists built this agile bot in secrecy, to act as the beacon of hope for humans everywhere.
In a future at war, this military decides to defend the outside of its military bases with a Patrol Mech piloted by a soldier inside. The soldier enters through the back and steps into the seat so he can face the monitors inside, once in position the seat slides forward and the opening closes. I included some variation sketches as well as my first pass that was sticking more to the sketch.
